Colour & Appearance:
Intense ruby red colour.
Nose / Aromas:
Notes of red fruit (especially black cherries), light floral hints, sweet impressions reminiscent of powdered sugar, plus delicate spicy touches like cinnamon and dill.
Palate / Mouthfeel:
The palate is taut yet full, pleasantly mouth-filling with supple tannins. It has good structure, and finishes long, sapid and with a full body.
Vintage & Terroir:
The 2021 vintage in Chianti Classico delivered excellent results: the winter was mild, good rainfall, cool nights especially in September-October aiding gradual ripening. The base is mainly Sangiovese, with additional international varieties. The wine aged in French and Hungarian oak barriques for about one year, followed by further aging in bottle.
Drinkability / Ageing Potential:
Drinkable now with decanting, but also built to age: this wine should gain further complexity with a few more years in bottle. Medium-term ageing (3-8 years) likely to reward.
