The Belgian distillery Filliers presents a remarkable single cask whisky to celebrate the sixth generation of the family business. The Filliers 29 Years Old Family Reserve – 1st Edition is a unique bottling from 1995, the birth year of Benoit Filliers, representative of the newest generation.
A tribute to family tradition and Belgian craftsmanship
With this exceptional release, Filliers underlines its pioneering role in the Belgian whisky world. The distillery in Deinze — active since 1880 — combines traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation. This results in whiskies that receive worldwide acclaim, such as the award-winning Single Malt Sherry Oak and Single Rye.
The 29-year-old Family Reserve honors this rich family history and the growing success of Belgian whisky. In recent years, Filliers has made significant investments to expand production capacity, including new copper pot stills and an additional maturation warehouse. This bottling marks an important milestone in that journey.
Single cask bottling from 1995
The whisky was bottled in June 2024 from cask #5953 — an American white oak cask where it had matured since 1995. Only 286 bottles are available for the international market, making this Family Reserve an exclusive edition for collectors and connoisseurs of long-aged, characterful whiskies.
For this expression, Filliers exclusively uses Belgian malted barley, rye, and pure spring water from a natural source on the distillery grounds. The whisky is non-chill filtered, uncoloured, and embodies the purity of Belgian distilling craftsmanship.
