House of McCallum Vintage Caol Ila 2008 is a beautifully crafted single malt Scotch whisky from the renowned Caol Ila distillery on Scotland's legendary island of Islay. Carefully selected by independent bottler House of McCallum, this exclusive expression forms part of the prestigious The Auld Alliance Vintage Collection.
Distilled on 6 October 2008 and bottled in September 2022, this remarkable whisky matured for 13 years. Its distinctive character is further enhanced by a finishing period in Graves wine casks from the famous Bordeaux wine region in France. This special cask finish introduces delicate fruity complexity that beautifully complements the smoky and maritime character for which Caol Ila is celebrated.
With only 738 bottles released worldwide, drawn from casks 31479 and 31480, this limited-edition whisky offers an exclusive experience for collectors and enthusiasts of distinctive Islay single malts.
On the nose, it reveals inviting aromas of gentle peat smoke, freshly baked strawberry tart and a subtle coastal sea breeze. The palate is expressive and beautifully balanced, delivering vibrant notes of raspberry, fruity wine gums, black pepper and sea salt. The finish is long and characterful, with lingering smoke, hints of smoky bacon, delicate spices and refreshing lemon zest.
Bottled at 46.5% ABV, without chill filtration or added colouring, this Caol Ila preserves its natural character and authentic flavour profile.
Serving suggestion: Best enjoyed neat in a tulip-shaped whisky glass to fully appreciate the balance between peat smoke, red fruit and maritime notes. A few drops of water may reveal additional fruity layers. An excellent companion to smoked fish, oysters or dark chocolate.
Presented in an elegant House of McCallum Vintage gift tube, this limited-edition single malt makes an impressive addition to any whisky collection and a sophisticated gift for whisky enthusiasts.
