King Coal is a bold and expressive blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, crafted by Charles Smith under the prestigious K Vintners label. The grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyards in Washington State's Columbia Valley, where warm days and cool nights produce fruit of exceptional concentration and elegance.
In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby-red colour with vibrant purple hues. The expressive bouquet opens with aromas of blackcurrant, black cherries and ripe blackberries, followed by refined notes of violets, black pepper, cedar, graphite, dark chocolate and subtle hints of vanilla derived from ageing in French oak barrels.
On the palate, the wine is powerful, full-bodied and beautifully structured. Cabernet Sauvignon provides depth, ripe tannins and a firm backbone, while Syrah contributes richness, spice and a velvety texture. Layers of dark fruit, mineral freshness and elegant oak linger through a long and impressive finish.
A superb partner for grilled beef, côte de bœuf, lamb, game dishes, slow-cooked stews and mature cheeses. For the best tasting experience, decant the wine for one to two hours before serving.
